Safia Mafia Releases the Virtual Reality-Influenced Video to Her Second Single, "Drive"
/Oakland singer/songwriter Safia Mafia releases the virtual reality-influenced video to her second single, "Drive," off of her first full-length album, Love Kills, via Bay Area music powerhouse EMPIRE. The single finds production crediting Tyga's Last King's producer Bedrock.
The eclectic song and matching visual features an augmented reality theme, where Safia's love interest goes from playing a video-game to hitting the historic Route 66 with her right by his side. Just before video end, he's left wondering if any of there love-laden trip was real.
"Drive" follows the lead single "Weed & Wine," which features fellow Bay Area native Guapdad 4000. Its video, that accurately encompasses the juxtaposition of the album's theme (being love-obsessed and loving one's self), debuted on Live Nation’s Ones to Watch in January.
Safia Mafia is managed by Bay Area native Francois Wiley, who built the career of fellow Bay native Kamaiyah and turned her into a star. Prior to her latest album, Safia released an EP titled Innermission in 2018, for which critics dubbed her “the next Sia meets FKA Twigs-level star with major potential in the pop world.”
