Paper Pilots Share New Single "Playing Games"

Paper Pilots new single “Playing Games” follows last November’s “Automatic” EP. Furthering their singular “California Britpop” sound, “Playing Games” is a foray back into self-production helmed by lead-singer/songwriter Justin Bocchieri. The track merges the power-pop of previous single “Free Ride” with the dance-drive that fans have come to expect from recent tracks such as “Automatic” and “Lovebird.” The angular guitars, urgent bass line, fevered drums and rapid-fire vocals highlight the mercurial and flirtatious nature of a new relationship.

Justin says of the track “The song is about the incessant idea when dating that there’s someone else out there, even though you may have love right in front you” as he sings “Scan the room for a better you / We’re just playing games.” The mix by Sylvia Massy (Prince, Blur) adds discoteque-attack.
