Franc Melo premieres his surrealistic visuals for “Coming Home” off of his debut album, LOST. The video’s artistic approach combines mirror imagery with intriguing, memorable characters, providing an imaginative landscape for a cinematic experience. Lost in his own mind, the video follows Franc Melo as he tries to find his way home. Along the way, he is guided by The Keymaker, a teleporting, Renaissance birdman, but pursued by The Overseer, a dapper, extraterrestrial.

Musically, “Coming Home” supplies a sophisticated hip-hop bounce, crafted by in-house
producer, Royaltone. Franc Melo’s entendre-riddled lyrics relate history with his story, a reoccurring theme throughout his debut album, LOST, which is now available on SpotifySoundCloud, and iTunes.

Lyrics:

PRE-VERSE

I wrote this flying over oceans
Business Imma mind mine till I’m older
Between lines for your mind to be open
I’m just way to deep on the low key
Too deep on the low key
Lost on my way coming home and it's on me
How are we supposed to know
Where we're going?

VERSE 1

First things first let every letter shock
I'll preach a paradox floatin' on an elephant
Machiavelli on, more like the Renaissance
Spacey from gory to elegant
House of cards in the shape of a pentagon
Make flaws too odd for you to bet a pawn
Thought caught flight
Hit the height of a decepticon
Revenant, hope lost like heaven's gone
Climb a storey to the story that I'm telling
Tales you embellish resembling what hell is
Hope to explore the trap door that I fell in
Found a broken ladder from the cellar to the attic
Dead trees root of all evil
Addiction to the fiction that’s a long needle
They deceive and divide but we're all equal
How far will you go if the blind lead you?

CHORUS

Only time will tell
Wasting that’s a lonely road
Don’t you wait for me
Cause I ain't coming home...
Only time will tell
What you waiting for?
Don’t you wait for me
Cause I ain't coming home...
Who got you
Going off the walls of make believe?
You can do what you want to
It's all within a day for me
Who really lost who
And blurred the lines of history?
You can do what you want to
Or fall in line

PRE VERSE

I wrote this flying over oceans
Business Imma mind mine till I’m older
Between lines for your mind to be open
I’m just way to deep on the low key
Too deep on the low key
Lost on my way coming home and it's on me
How are we supposed to know
Where we're going?

VERSE 2

Foot through the door C4 the foundation
The rooftop of my imagination
Loose ends left those in the basement
Basically hiding the lows that we're facing
3rd eye zoning frozen deeper meditation
All the stones they laid before me
Helped to show me what I’m chasing
System broken, switch your focus, fix it later
Chose the latter
Ladder up to outer space
What’s choice when you're living in the matrix?
I’m gone Franc Melo in the spaceship
Only leaving if I’m levitating
Only leaving through the phone
On hold, tell them call me later
"Operator send me home", thought I'd never say it
I swear patience turned me to a patient
Reservation for the renovation
What’s the weight of waiting?

CHORUS

Only time will tell
Wasting that’s a lonely road
Don’t you wait for me
Cause I ain't coming home…
Only time will tell
What you waiting for?
Don’t you wait for me
Cause I ain't coming home…
Who got you
Going off the walls of make believe?
You can do what you want to
It's all within a day for me
Who really lost who
And blurred the lines of history?
You can do what you want to
Or fall in line

BRIDGE

You think you getting far
But you ain't going nowhere at all
You think you getting far
But you ain't going nowhere it all

OUTRO

Only time will tell
Wasting that’s a lonely road
Don’t you wait for me
Cause I ain't coming home…
Only time will tell
What you waiting for?
Don’t you wait for me
Cause I ain't coming home…

Omaha‐based rap artist, Conny Franko, releases the music video for his first single, “Half Stepper Kings,” from his upcoming album, La Maga. The video finds Franko telling a story of cultural exploits, including abuse of authority, systematic oppression and substance abuse on top of a smooth piano‐centric beat produced by Sm‐Grims aka Oscar Carrillo.

The emcee first took to rapping in 2003, finding the art form to be a suitable outlet for his ideas and emotions. The following year, Franko gained popularity after taking up residence at the “Hotel Frank,” a bohemian venue known for fostering local Omaha talent. Living alongside a diverse set of artists, Franko crafted his freshman LP, Calm Kids. Next, the rapper joined forces with a pair of like‐minded musicians and became the first signee to Make Believe Recordings; the label eventually drummed up enough capital to release the album on vinyl. As his music career developed, Franko continued to follow his second passion, skateboarding. While at a skate park in Denver, the rapper struck up a friendship with Oscar Carrillo, a hip hop producer hailing from Mexico. The two discussed collaborating on Franko’s sophomore album, La Maga, but before the project could begin, Carrillo was deported to Mexico.

Undeterred by this setback, Franko spent the past two years travelling to and from Mexico in order to create and complete La Maga. The finished product stands as a unique body of work influenced by politics, culture, money, time and ethnocentricity. Keep a lookout for La Maga, set to drop in July!

Drumma SC follows-up with a music video for his recently released single, entitled “Talm Bout.” The Carolina born hip-hop artist, gives his “views” of his upbringing in the small town of Cheraw, SC. Drumma visually grasps the attention of viewers with images of dirt roads, old shotgun slave-style homes, abandoned factories, simultaneously showing the beauty of nature in this small “Dixie” town.

My vision was to visually depict my roots and upbringing and correlate it to my growth and evolution as an artist and person in general. Certain things that we consider our foundation, origins of our morals, how we find our life’s paths and develop goals for ourselves start from the environment we come up in. This is mine… country, dirt road, family oriented, struggling, church going, fan waving, slave descendant, Africans in the diaspora. All the elements that help mold me are present.

Cheraw, also the birthplace of Jazz legend Dizzy Gillespie, has much historical landmarks that most bear witness to as what made this once major shipping center and head of navigational waters via the Pee Dee River, so great. Widely known as a major center of the American Revolutionary War, its major role in the Civil War and, at one point, being the largest cotton market in the south. However for its African American inhabitants and natives, it serves as reminders of a much grimmer past riddled with slave trade and oppression.

About Drumma SC: Drumma SC first gained notoriety in his musical base city, Charlotte, NC being known for his raw passion, perseverance, and magnetic lyrical ability. Born in the small town of Cheraw, SC, Drumma has experienced every facet of “country live’n,” From growing up in nature, around farm life and dirt roads to witnessing direct effects of economic hardship stemming from the vanishing of a once booming textile industry. Actively involved in bringing forth solutions to social issues involving community and human rights, Drumma integrates his passion for music with his passion for creating positive change and development.

BAMN is Atlanta's Best Kept Secret

When most music fans think of Atlanta rap, Trap music is the first thing that comes to mind. Artists like Future, Young Thug and Rich Homie Quan are carrying the torch for this very popular sub-genre but there is a new generation of rappers making major noise in the Atlanta region and beyond. One of these emerging artists is BAMN. BAMN has been featured on our site several times since we started in July 2014 and his appearances have all been well warranted. He's been making great music for three years, with the culmination being last spring's "The Ride", an eight song EP featuring the production prowess of Spittzwell.

We connected with BAMN to ask some questions about his philanthropic work in the community, what we can look forward to from him musically this year and much more. Most importantly, BAMN just dropped a DOPE new video for his track 'Give It Up', which is our current Song of the Week, and appears on our recently released compilation album "The Definition of DOPE". Enjoy.

Carlton Boyd

Why is charity work in the community so important to you? B: It's more important than most things society focuses on.  Its simple!  We have to give more than we receive!  I mean I'm blessed to have a bed to sleep in and food to eat.  Some people to have that.  I would'nt even call it charity work.  To me its just seeing the value in life.  I can't walk by struggle and not do anything.

What can we look forward to from you musically this year? B: I recently released my newest single "Give It Up" which can be found anywhere you buy music. ie: Itunes, Google Play, Amazon Music etc.  Almost right after the single release I also released the visual for it on Youtube @thatguybamn.  Be expecting more singles and visuals to back them. And an Album too!   All dopeness and alot of it!

How will your next project be different than The Ride? B: I think "The Ride" was really smooth.  It was more relax and chill music on that project, and I used one producers for the entire project.  The new project will a variety of producers and different sounds.  You can already tell by the single "Give It Up".  It's way different than what I released on "The Ride".

For someone who's never seen you perform live, what's a typical BAMN show like? B: It's not "typical" at all.  First and foremost its amazing music.  My energy is high, interaction with the crowd, and if my company BeFirstClassENT, LLC. is behind it we like to give away things.  I like to connect with the crowd. I want them to leave feeling like it was an amazing show.

What does the phrase 'Be First Class' mean to you? B: "BeFirstClass" means being the absolute best that you can be in what ever capacity you choose, as well as inspiring others to do the same. Inspiration is a big part of everything that I do.  I told my team that this year the goal is to inspire, and that's what we're going to do.
